Part B question 7 https://blog.fromtherackwindsor.com/assignment-2-part-b-question-7/ Sun, 03 Mar 2024 20:12:02 +0000 https://blog.fromtherackwindsor.com/?p=1342 You are to create a headline about the 2nd year digital classes in this program. The audience will be 1st year students. Please provide the headline and your reasoning behind it. In addition, please outline what information is missing in this question that you would need to create the headline. (4 Marks

This headline focuses on action-oriented language as it starts with “unlocking success”  and “master these three steps” this encourages first-years to take action and engage with the content as they want to be successful going into second year. This headline also gives specific information to the reader by clearly defining that these steps are tailored for second year adverting and marketing classes. With the first years following these steps that are in the article, they will have a better understanding of second year adverting and marketing digital classes.

Some of the information that is missing from the question that would be required to create a well written headline is what the digital classes are, they aren’t specific enough to write an article or a specific headline as you must be generic with the classes as they could mean any class that needs a computer. Another specific that is missing from the question is if these first-year students are in the advertising and marketing program, as the question doesn’t state that. It states they are first-year students; understanding the target market better would also be a plus, as we don’t know the student’s goals or interests. The difference between this question and question six is that we were given who our target audience was, which was graduating high school students. It’s easier to understand what they would think, as everyone has been in that spot. As for question seven, these first-year students could want to drop out or just want basic information on the second-year digital classes. It’s like two separate topics that aren’t connected, and it’s a very generic goal and not specific enough.

Assignment 2. Part B question 6 https://blog.fromtherackwindsor.com/assignment-2-part-b-question-6/ Sun, 03 Mar 2024 19:20:21 +0000 https://blog.fromtherackwindsor.com/?p=1331 Prompts I used To Create the headline:

This was the final headline Chat was able to come up with by using my prompts. The reason I stuck with this headline was since it has everything you would want for a good headline it has, an emphasis on success for the high school graduates which will capture their attention and then lead into a call to action telling them to “enroll” into the program. There is also a USP in the headline (Unique Selling Position) that shows that 90% of graduates get employed in this field which is an extremely impressive. The headline is also clear and concise, based on the prompt information I gave on high school students and the advertising program. The overall tone of the headline is also aimed at high school students and gives the reader confidence by implying that success is within reach by applying to the program.

Assignment 2. Part B question 5 https://blog.fromtherackwindsor.com/assignment-2-part-b-question-5/ Sun, 03 Mar 2024 19:20:08 +0000 https://blog.fromtherackwindsor.com/?p=1329 Now you are going to apply what you have learned in class. As per the class discussion, please provide me with three different headlines for the story (article in Question #4) and outline your reasoning(s) and explanation for each. Please ensure you base your answer on the different elements of headlines we spoke about in class. Please go into detail for each. (12 Marks)
  1. Top 3 2024 Detroit Auto Show Award Winners with Pictures (numbers & promising a payoff with the pictures)
  2. Results Are In! The 2024 Detroit Auto Show Best Car Winners Are Announced! (intriguing statement)
  3. 7 Reasons To Head To The 2024 Detroit Auto Show Before It’s Too Late! (call to action)

The reasoning behind creating this headline is to give the audience a numerical number to capture the reader’s attention right away; they can categorize it before reading the rest of the headline. As the number is so low, users will assume that the list will be higher quality and not a significant time commitment. The headline is also essential and right to the point because more than half of users respond more positively to articles that don’t use filler words (Safran, 2021.)

Safran, N. (2021, March 31). 5 Data Insights into the Headlines Readers Click. Moz. https://moz.com/blog/5-data-insights-into-the-headlines-readers-click

The promising payoff with pictures is also a heavy driver with this headline, as it promises the readers visual content alongside the text. This payoff entices visually oriented readers and helps with engagement. It’s promising the readers with a payoff.

The headline starts with an intriguing statement that creates a sense of immediacy and excitement for the reader. The implication of this statement is that the reader will gain access to breaking news in this case being the best car show winners. The reader will want to click the article to gain access to the information we are providing them. The headline is extremely clear in what the reader will get by clicking on it; it provides a direct and informative message that the reader can immediately understand. The exclamation mark at the end adds emphasis and energy to the end of the headline, conveys urgency to the reader, and amplifies the sense of excitement that is accumulating around the announcement.

The headline I created starts as a listicle format by starting with “7 reasons,” which is effective in attracting attention and organizing the content on the webpage as their will be seven points touched upon. Listicle format is popular due to the readability and ability to cover the points adequately. The call to action within the headline “Head to the 2024 Detroit Auto Show Before It’s Too Late!” urges readers to attend the event. This will motivate the reader to click the headline to determine where and when the event occurs. This call to action, it also promotes FOMO as the reader has a fear of missing out on the event. As per class discussion we spoke about how a loss is more substantial than a gain so by using this FOMO technique more readers will want to click on the headline.

Assignment 2. Part B question 4 https://blog.fromtherackwindsor.com/assignment-2-part-b-question-4/ Sun, 03 Mar 2024 19:19:55 +0000 https://blog.fromtherackwindsor.com/?p=1327 As discussed in class, why do you feel Headlines are so important in web content? Please provide me with another headline you clicked on recently (submit the exact headline including a screenshot) and outline in detail why you clicked it. In question #2, I asked why it resonated with you. For this question, I am asking why you actually clicked on it. This cannot be the same headline as question #2 (8 Marks)

Headlines are essential in web content for a few reasons: they help with grabbing attention, SEO, setting expectations, building out your brand identity, and encouraging sharing. Headlines grab attention as they are your first point of contact with the audience. With consumers having all their information at their fingertips, headlines need to be in place to grab the reader’s attention in the sea of competing content. These headlines act as a “hook” that captures the reader’s interest and can use attention-grabbing words, questions, numbers, or intriguing statements. Picking one or multiple strategies will help create a great hook that will compel users to click. Headlines also help with setting expectations with the web content you are posting its giving readers a small preview on what they can expect to learn or what values they might gain from it. It helps to mange expectations for the content and ensure it can deliver on it’s promises. Headlines also play a massive role in driving clicks and traffic to the article or content as it gives a clear value proposition that motivates the user to click through. This will improve your content’s chances of being shared across social media platforms. With the SEO aspect of headlines, they help with keyword optimization as headlines can hold relevant keywords and phrases that align with the content they are about, for example, “Top 7 Vintage Band T-shirts Found at Goodwill.” By including “Vintage” “Goodwill” I can signal to search engines what the content behind this headline will be about. Headlines must also stay within the specific character limit, so they appear and are adequately displayed in SERPs. Headlines are also helpful in CTRs and backlinks; this is from having a headline that is clear, descriptive, and emotionally resonant will attract more clicks from users and will let search engines know that the content is more valuable. This also helps with backlinks and social sharing, as when a user can read the headline well and it relates to them, they will link it back to their website and in doing this, it will make the shared headline more authoritative and relevant which will contribute to a higher search ranking.

The reasoning behind me clicking on this headline is due to snapchat, this weekend from the 1st to 3rd of march the 71st annual Detroit Auto Show happened; since I don’t have a passport, I wasn’t able to attend this event, but through Snapchat, I experienced the event through the lens of other consumers. This made me curious about the event winners and led me to googling them. This headline caught my eye due to its structure, and I was familiar with the brand that made the article. Hagerty is my auto insurance provider which supplies me with insurance to my classic vehicle I have trust and authority with them, so it made me click. It also had a power word of “great” which gave me anticipation to what the cars would look like. The number was also 8, which let me figure out the time commitment needed to read the article. What ultimately led me to click this article was the FOMO of missing the event and my passion for automotive design and vehicles overall.

Assignment 2. Part B question 3 https://blog.fromtherackwindsor.com/assignment-2-part-b-question-3/ Sun, 03 Mar 2024 19:19:29 +0000 https://blog.fromtherackwindsor.com/?p=1325 As per the headline in Question #2, was the headline representative of the article? Please explain your reasoning in detail. (4 Marks)

The article does represent the headline, but it doesn’t encompass all the details revealed in the headline. It stays true to the central theme as it details the upcoming Universal Epic Universe theme park in Florida and mentions the attractions related to Harry Potter and Nintendo, both discussed in the headline. The article also includes the planned opening in 2025, the presence of more than 50 attractions but doesn’t go in depth on what these 50 attractions are, the article is very surface level when it comes to giving information on the new park. The article also adds more topics that It didn’t fully disclose in the headline, the new topics that get touched upon are a “Celestial Park” which is the central area of the park. The integration of a 500-room hotel in the middle of the park and other themed areas like a “How to Train Your Dragon” island. A reader that clicks on the article might only want to read what topics were spoke about in the headline so adding more topics might make the reader bonce from the article. The headline and article effectively communicate the timeliness and relevance of the information by explaining that the readers are getting a first look at the new details of the Universal Theme Park.

Assignment 2. Part B question 2 https://blog.fromtherackwindsor.com/assignment-2-part-b-question-2/ Sun, 03 Mar 2024 19:19:06 +0000 https://blog.fromtherackwindsor.com/?p=1323 2. Find one (1) headline that you came across recently and thought it was great. Explain why it resonated with you. Please ensure that you base your answers on topics discussed in class. (6 Marks)

This headline resonated with me because it touches upon all the points we discussed in class. It has numbers in the headline, although it is higher number, a reader that is interested in a new theme park especially coming from universal would click on it. It clearly states the headline’s goal: to tell you what you need to know about the new park and when it opens. It uses power words and taps into the audience’s anticipation and FOMO by mentioning “first glimpses” of the new park.  Also, piggybacking off of the 2025 opening date creates a sense of urgency as it’s a massive upcoming event.

This article is written for the right audience as they use “Harry Potter” and “Nintendo World” as action words to the audience; the reasoning behind them using these well-known brands is how well-known they both are. In Universal Studios, they opened The Wizarding World of Harry Potter Island, this was done in 2010, and the year after, the park raised more than 1.72 million attendances. This is the highest jump in attendance Universal has had with an expansion of their park (Statista, 2023)

Statista. (2023, September 19). Universal Orlando Islands of Adventure theme park attendance 2009-2022. https://www.statista.com/statistics/236175/attendance-at-the-universal-orlando-islands-of-adventure-theme-park/

Using this in the headline will attract an audience wanting to know what’s happening with these IPS in the new park.

This headline’s power words were “Enormous” and “First Glimpse.” Enormous emphasizes the size and scale of this new theme park, it grabs the readers attention and curiosity as they want to know how large the park is. First, Glimpse suggests to the reader that it’s exclusive and has uniqueness, with this being in the headline implying that they are getting a first investigation of the park. This also triggers the emotions of curiosity and encourages readers to learn more.  This headline also uses the power word “new,” which signifies the freshness of the news and indicates that something innovative and different is coming soon. It suggests that the readers will be among the first to experience something groundbreaking, like the opening of a new theme park.

As discussed in class about FOMO, this article does this perfectly by mentioning “First Glimpse” and has a planned opening of 2025, giving more sense of exclusivity. These words tap into the audience’s fear of missing out, which will drive interest and excitement for the readers who want to be one of the first visitors to the new park.

This headline also mentions how many attractions will be in the new park, with Universal Studios unveiling 50. This emphasizes the sheer number of attractions and implies the diverse range of experiences available to visitors. This also lets the audience know how long they will need to read this article.
